NDR taken money out my bank!

Last week I had money go missing out my bank account. It turned out to be a company called Northern Debt Recovery, who I have never heard of as I have had no contact from them such as letters, phone calls etc. They took four card payments in total, two for £42 and two for £84. When I went in to my bank to query this after an hour wait it turned out there was a loan taken out in my partners name for Speed Credit (he says he never did).

If that is the case how can they take money out of account without my knowledge or say so? Is this legal?

All help would be appreciated as I am worried they will take more out as soon as any goes in which will leave me with nothing again.

Tell your bank to cancel the CPA for these people and that the money taken is fraud and open a case.

Sounds like your partner took a Payday Loan out using your card details.

They will continue to take money until you have repaid your partners debt to them, it would have ramped up significantly if it has reached NDR.

Unless he never did take one out of course!!!

Ask him if he's heard of "Tooth Fairy Finance" - which is who these scumbags are.

I cancelled my card waiting on new one coming through, tried to tell them it was fraud but they couldn't do anything because NDR would only speak to my partner but he can't get through to them!

    Hello

Your bank are fobbing you off - if you have not given NDR authority to use your card details they need to cancel the CPA and refund the money. You do not need to speak to NDR.

If it transpires that your partner used your card details to take out a loan, that is a seperate issue and the monies will need to be recovered from them by NDR.

Fraudulent use of your card details by your partner is then something else again.

I don't think cancelling the card would have achieved anything. They have your bank details and claim they have authority to take money out (the CPA or Continuous Payment Authority). It is this CPA that you have to get the bank to cancel.

Then you can start investigating why they think someone took out a loan.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    The key here is;
Debits were unauthorised and you have no relationship with whoever debited the funds. And your bank should sort this out and refund you as it shouldn't be your problem.

That is all the bank need to worry (or even know) about.

    [edit] I assume it *isn't* a joint account? [/edit]
