Debt agency

Hi,
I'm new here, but would like some advice?
Years ago, I went guarantor for a family member. At the time I didn't really understand the whole term.
They then didn't make the repayments and I received a letter from the company asking me to pay upfront. It was then paid in full.
3 years later I've had letters from a collection agency saying that they have bought the debt and I now owe them.
I have emailed them letters I have from a solicitor saying that there is no further action and a receipt to say the payment was made in full. Yet this company insist I owe them.
I am feeling very stressed over this and wonder the best course of action?
Thanks for any advice you can offer.

If you've sent them solicitors' letters showing that the debt was paid in full, and they still want payment, invite them to commence court action so that they can explain themselves to a judge.

If they aren't prepared to do that, then their actions may constitute harassment and you could consider action against THEM.
