What are currently the best VFM hair clippers available?

I'm overdue a haircut, but as it's so thick I thought I'd try the DIY route, then there'd still be enough hair for a pro to remedy any mess that might be made! So, I was wondering if anyone can recommend any value for money electric clippers.

DH has just upgraded from Babyliss for Men to Wahl. There is a big difference in quality, but it depends what you're willing to pay.
The Wahl set was about £30 reduced from £70 from Boots in a limited edition London design and they are really powerful, so would be good for thick hair. I think they use a different type of motor?
Just check that the set you buy has grades 1-8; a lot have just 1-4 which is only half an inch at most. Also, I think wired are usually cheaper than wireless, and more powerful.
Hope that helps!0 -
Wahl are best VFM as they have a lifetime guarantee & the blades can be sharpened, which can't happen with Babyliss or Remington.
DH has done diy haircuts for years and upgraded 2 years ago, and is v.happy with them.
Also, as further evidence - the majority of barbers & hairdressers use Wahl.0 -
You seem to have posted this untruth about Remington without any research. It takes very little effort to discover that Remington clippers are sharpened as they are used. Even the budget priced Remington Apprentice are self sharpening, and they can be had in Asda for under £10. Also, the clippers produced for professional use in salons are manufactured to much more robust standards, so it doesn't necessarily follow that the leading manufacturer must also be the best in the budget market.the blades can be sharpened, which can't happen with Babyliss or Remington.0
