Budget Wedding Venue North East

Myself and my Fiance are looking to get married in March 2015, but when I've been looking at wedding venues they're generally ridiculous! I thought our budget wasn't bad, we were thinking of around £6000 for just the venue for 100 daytime and evening guests, but now I think we will have to re-think our budget.
We would consider Newcastle, Durham or Northumberland.
Any thoughts, suggestions, anything! Would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in Advance

Hi
We're using the New Exchange on Saville Street in North Shields.
We've not got married yet, but they've been really good so far. The bar/conservatory area is really nice and airy.
You may find they come in under your budget depending on food choices? We're paying just under £42 per head for food, and then £250 for the venue hire if that'll give you any idea.0 -
Depends what sort of wedding you want really, that sounds like a good sized budget though, plenty of options!!
Have you had a look through the Northumberland Weddings guide downloadable from the council website? http://!!!!!!!/NCCwedding it has all the licensed venues listed.
There's also a good free magazine called 'The Wedding Guide' that releases a North East issue, they usually have them in local wedding shops, I picked mine up in the jewellery shop opposite Newcastle city library. There's also an online version free for download: http://www.theweddingguideuk.com/online-magazine/yorkshire-north-east.aspx Usually contains lots of venue adverts!
Hope that helps, good luck0 -
We looked at the Caladonian Hotel in Jesmond, Newcastle. Really nice inside and has a good selection of offers including a "wedding in a box". They also sort out chair covers/favours and table decorations etc.
The Mariott also have some offers and Longhirst Hall was another place mentioned.
Good luck finding the "right one" without too much compromise!0 -
We got married at Matfen Hall. As we got married in February so we got a big discount for the time of year. Many companies will do discount during winter months, worth asking.Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0

Try the Barrasford Arms near Hexham. This venue is very well priced, has a lovely chapel within walking distance and is ran by a Michelin Star chef.0

Beamish Hall Hotel, its a Best western but is actually really nice although I hear the dance floor is a bit on the small side. I think Linden Hall would fit into your budget, again a very nice setting, nice food. Cheaper again would be Derwent Manor near Consett, again a Best Western, can't vouch for food but hotel has a lovely hall and staff are great. If you want to go cheaper then how about registry office wedding (Newcastle office is in a nice place) and a do afterwards at The Cluny which is down by the Ouseburn in old warehouse buildings.
I have loads more ideas but give us more of a clue about what you like. I went to Gretna last week and got married just the two of us it was lovely!0 -
Im getting married at Royal Station Hotel in Newcastle, but the Marriott next to the Metro Centre Gateshead is nice too, and if you can get a special deal all the better!0
