No but money can buy you the right sort of misery you choose.0

To me money can give you security but I don't believe it can buy happiness..0

I've been rich, and I've been poor. Rich is nicer, but I don't know if, day to day, it's made me any happier. I've always been a happy sort of person, and was as happy looking for bargains in the reduced section at Tesco as I am shopping for new sports cars.0

Oh i's sure you can be incredibly rich yet incredibly unhappy! I am willing to put it to the test if someone wants to fund the experiment!0

Having money = being able to leave the house, join things/do things, make friends, have people to talk to and do things with = happiness.
This is exactly right.
The only people who say "Oh money doesn't really matter" are the ones who have it.0 -
Up to a point yes. If you have no food, can't pay the rent, are about to have the electricity cut off then money will certainly remove a lot of stress from your life.
But apart from that look back at you life and try to pick out the happiest moments and you will find very little of them involve money
Your highlights will include that guy.girl you went out with in your teens, being with people who have the gift of being able to make others laugh, the degree you achieved, the hat rick you scored for your school football time, the day you passed your driving test, completing your first marathon, that promotion at work, helping someone out of a fix.
With the possible exception of your first car/motorcycle and the resultant freedom it gives you generally speaking "stuff" does not make you any happier.
Experiences and achievement are what makes you happy.0 -
I think Asiacat is right. What I believe is that if you have money, you don't have to worry about not having it, and can focus on things which DO bring hapiness, most of which don't cost a huge amount.0
