We have budgeted £100 per bridesmaid which we originally thought was sufficient...now I'm not so sure!
Does anyone know where I can source cheaper dresses from? I've looked on ebay but sellers with more than one to sell all seem to be from China..and I've heard negative things
I got mine in Debenhams - £79 each for floor-length gowns in navy blue. I then purchased cream faux-fur stoles (December wedding) for about £35 each.I am employed as a manager in a financial services institution. My views are entirely my own.0 -
Have you thought about trying places such as local indoor markets, or alterations places? Markets might sound a bit odd, but there is a shop in our local market who does prom wear, mother of bride and generally nice occasion wear. Called in there the other day to have a nose and saw one of the dresses that I'd seen on eBay. We got chatting and she emailed me some photos of some similar dresses that she could get in and lo and behold all of them were ones I'd seen on eBay (and other Chinese websites) and had fallen for. Thankfully my bridesmaid loves them too and they look great on her. And at £65 I'm well chuffed.
It's twice the price of eBay, but well worth it to know where it's coming from (ie an actual person who i can speak to and ask advice from in plain english lol) and keeping business a bit local.
Same with the alterations shops, my mum took her curtains in to another indoor market shop to have them re-taped and they had bridesmaid dresses there too!

Mine are coming from China. They are 58 quid each (I have 3) and I'll be paying the extra tenner to have them custom-made. I know there is more uncertainty in this method, but it's a risk I'm prepared to take. If the dresses aren't perfect, it won't really matter, as they'll be in them for less than 24 hours and are unlikely to wear them again I imagine!Remember Occam's Razor - the simplest explanation is usually the right one.
