Feel guilty about spending vouchers.

My microwave is a convection oven, which broke sometime last year but the microwave and grill still works. I often just want to heat a garlic bread or a baked spud so I have to heat the whole oven which seems a bit of a waste. I compared my electric to the previous year and even though it has been hotter my elec usage is a lot more.

I earned £100 worth of vouchers which i redeemed for argos. (The choice was quite limited to argos, next and currys) So I splashed out and spent £80 of them on a new convection microwave. But I feel so guilty because the other microwave still officially works!

Someone convince me it's not too bad!

On another note by bread maker, bought by vouchers last year broke exactly 1 year after the warranty to the day but obviously after the hops shut for the day. i still tried my luck at argos the next day and luckily my extra sad face worked!!! :T and I got a straight swap.

It may still work, but part of it (and an important part you use frequently) is broken..don't feel guilty!

We use a combination microwave at the moment due to the oven not working (was broken when we moved in) and I'd still like to keep it when we get a working oven, for the reasons you say. If it broke, I'd certainly be tempted to get another!

    Debt-free and Proud!
Freecycle the old on that only partly works, that may help you feel less guilty. Someone may be very grateful for the bits that do work if they don't have anything. :)

Life is too short to have NOTHING you want and ONLY what you absolutely NEED.
It really is too short for that....

    So.....enjoy your new microwave :)

Don't feel guilty, you earned the vouchers !!!!

Just put the other on freecycle and 1) its out of your house(less clutter) and 2) someone else could use it!!!!

Think of it as addition to make your life easier :)

    Thanks everyone

I've given it to the daughter of a woman at work who has just bought a new flat, can't promise it will work for ever (although I was impressed I had had it 5 years and it only cost £70!)

To spread the goodwill even further, she is going to give a couple of quid to an animal charity!!

    :)

That's good that it got passed on, at least it can be used by someone else for a while! That's a bit of extra money the new flat owner will have to spend on things she probably needs more! I hope you like your new microwave too :)
