should i buy my home?

basically ive lived in my council house 26 years, im on £21,000 (on paper, it aint gona last) i work for a government department that is going to be privatized within 2 years so i might be outa job, any advise please

    when i look for sale in my area houses go for £120,000
    im entitled up to 75% discount ( i may not get full)
    at the moment i only have £3000 saved

    hopefully company that takes over has to take me on aswell, for at least a little time, after that i dont care what i do, i will scrub floors rather than go on benefits
  • I think that means you need a £30,000 mortgage and I believe they will use the 75% as the deposit. If you think your rent per month is more than the mortgage will be, what have you got to lose? Will you get redundancy if you are not taken on?

    Can you pay the mortgage with no job? Less protection than no job and council tenant.
