Hitachi Capital Headache
I need some advice please !!!!
Having successfully navigated my way through financial minefields for years. I decided on home improvement (Hitachi Loan :j approx £5000 ) I paid £123.32 DD 27th every month for 2 years. In May 2013 I missed DD
.
I phoned HC and agreed to make up missed payment.
June payment was taken through DD
I went on holiday 17 July after trying to contact(no one on phone) HC regarding payment.
On my return I find a letter dated 30/7/13 stating I'm in default due to missed payment and passed to Hitachi's "Litigation & Recoveries Dept" who want an additional charge as well as £7253.99
Checking online banking I find Hitachi haven't taken July DD, so phoned and person at Hitachi say I'm in default and now 2 months arrears so passed to "Litigation & Recoveries"
A bit quick off the mark for them asI missed 1 payment, they missed 1 call
Advice please

Why have you not set up direct debit for the loan or is it not an option ?0

Ah yes sorry missed that despite reading the post.

Sorry,
Thanks for response.
May 27 DD was missed due to insufficient funds
ATTEMPTED Phonecall to pay arrears unanswered JULY 17 (going on 2 weeks holiday)
June 27 DD was taken as normal
July 27 DD was not requested by Hitachi
Letter from Hitachi dated July 30 stating default received on August 3
Balance demanded much more than I should be paying, I'll look out paperwork0 -
Did you really only try to call once but claim nobody was in at HSBC?
The contract was broken when your payment was missed. If you had made more of an effort you would've had a late payment, not a missed payment.
Now you have defaulted, it appears they are going for the whole amount in one lump. That doesn't mean you can't purpose a repayment plan.
Your credit file will be shot to bits. Hope it was a good holiday.0 -
Great holiday
Phoned Hitachi and got a NICE person who arranged for arrears + charges to be paid over the next year and pay original DD sum
Set up new DD for 1 year (to be reviewed)
Warned about missing DD
Booking next year holiday
Thanks :T0 -

Have you checked how this arrangement will be reflected on your credit file, and iif it'd be better (for you) to make up the late / missed payments more quickly?0
