It can certainly be legal - but in Kent, when someone's going to do it legally (after rabbits, or foxes, say) they notify the police, the parish council, and the neighbours. That way no-one panics if they hear a shotgun after dark!

Around here they just get on with it. Neighbours usually work out what the blinding light & bangs are........ if they're not out there doing it, anyway, too :D
The only people who tend to get OTT are holidaymakers but then we've had a response car turn up here because some .... (fill the word in for yourselves ;) ) reported a gunshot on our property during the day. We hadn't got a clue what they were on about until I spoke to a neighbour who had just put out a bird-scarer on one of their fields that day :rotfl:

, I wouldn't expect to be notified.....and no one worries here about gun shots particularly. :). (Got to chase the ruffians off somehow, and we live near a ruddy great shooting range) Time of night is often a give away, as is the land its coming from.

Its like trying to explain farm watch to people who don't get it......what you would and wouldn't worry about...which cars in gate ways raise your hackles, which don't.....sometimes its logical, sometimes its harder to difine!
  • A neighbour of ours does fox and rabbit control that way, and he does always email the farms next to his, to tell them.
...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.

I looked at the trains, £21 special to Waterloo (2 hours). No idea where Waterloo or the restaurant are though. Could be the same place or 30 miles apart :)

Total journey time there/back, door to door, would be over 6 hours....

1 hour from Southampton airport parkway to Waterloo, restaurant is then 20 minutes walk or a few stops on the tube or change at Clapham junction and it is only 5 minutes form Victoria. Can't help with the 21 quid except sometimes redspottedhanky does new customer £10 off first ticket.
    I think....

Even though I left home in the 80s, I still talk about "home" in the same way as you. At least I guess you do. I hope you're not talking about London;).
