Best "out of the box" ecommerce website solutions

I am planning to start an online shop for a niche market, which I believe will do well.

I am looking for a out of the box ecommerce solution, with good templates to choose from, with carts to take payments also.
I am not techie, I would prefer a hosting company with good templates to choose from.

Due to the limited budget, I would prefer a good relation between inexpensive and quality.

What would you recommend? I heard of create.net.

Why not choose Wordpress? They have a wide and varied selection of templates, you can also drop in your own background image for better effect and the HTML bit is self explanatory when it comes to linking text and images. As for a shopping cart, I use Paydotcom as a go between my sites and paypal. They take about 5% of the sale value and the whole process is quite straightforward.

Thanks, I thought that Wordpress was for blogging only.
    I will take a look!

Well it'is primarily a blog, but more and more webmasters like the themes and functionality of it and can implement their pages to good effect with better listings.

The coding and scripts used are also viewed favourably by Google and the main search engines which can only be good for keyword ranking in natural searches.

If you're 'non techie' then you'd probably find Wordpress a good CMS to get along with (rather than something like Joomla).

However, I would advise against cheap templates which will just look generic and possibly even unprofessional, Worth spending some money to get something of quality.

I use create.net for my site, it's 9.99 a month, was really easy to set up, some great templates to start with and then the option of having a designer do it when the shop takes off. It also links up so you can sell via Facebook,eBay and Amazon. Payments can be processed through paypal.
    Hell yeah!!
  • I wouldn't use Wordpress, use OpenCart. It's like Wordpress but specifically for ecommerce sites.

Using Wordpress (in my opinion) is like using square pegs in round holes, OpenCart is simple to modify, install and get off the ground. There are also many themes and plugins that you can download.

If you want anymore information just ask, I do website development in my spare time and i'm in the middle of setting up an ecommerce site for a friend.
