Great Hunt: How far would you go for a great deal?

In the early days of Sat Nav I drove from South Yorkshire to Eastbourne to buy a Pocket PC & Plug In GPS unit for £300 ( a bargain at the time).

It was off Ebay and the guy was offering reasonable P&P and had good feedback but I was still not willing to send £300 before getting the goods.

When I was buying my current main TV a few years back, the cheapest I could get online, delivered was over £3k. A shop in Colne, Lancashire, over 200 miles away from my home in Bristol had it for £2,800. My home town in Southport is about 55 miles from Colne. So, a weekend with friends and family with a detour cost about £50 in fuel, saving over £150 on cheapest price delivered and nearly £500 on the Currys price!

There used to be a West Cornwall Pasty Company outlet in Edinburgh airport and I once went there from Dundee to find it was no longer there ! I understand there's one in Glasgow Central Station still - but that is not on any usual path of mine .

I have to ask my brother , who occasionally comes to Aberdeen , to smuggle me up some 'oggies' when he comes (but the West Cornwall ones are the best I have ever had - and I've had some very good home-baked ones... must go to Glasgow !) .
