Ok this is going to confuse everybody having two Friday threads!

I got some of the £4 book tokens from the Daily Mail last Friday. I actually wanted the Bill Bryson paperback and it was the WHSmith book of the week for £3.99 so on Monday I went through the till with the paperback, Harpers July magazine with the silver flipflops free inside and a Best magazine.

After everything had been scanned the lady scanned my 200 points voucher for spending more than £5 (and these points did appear at the end of my receipt), scanned my £2.70 Harpers coupon but consulted with her supervisor ove rht e £4 coupon and they decided they couldnt take the £4 book token becuas ethe book as £3.99. So I asked for the paperback to be taken off my bill. So in the end I paid £1.70 for Harpers with the free flip flops and Best (with 50p of coupons) and the extra 200 points still appeared at the bottom of my receipt.

So today I went to another little WHSmiths and it still said on the door poster Bill Bryson was book of the week but I didnt think it was so I didnt try the same thing again.

But when I got to Sainsburys they have an offer, 2 paperbacks for £7 including the Bill Bryson, plus lots of other stickered books. So I chose my two and they went through the till seperatley. I gave the till boy the £4 book voucher and it scanned! So two paperbacks for £3 (I got Terry Wogan as well, as Terry himself would say there are no flies on me!)

So if you still have a £4 Daily mail paperback coupon and actually want to buy some paperbacks try it in Sainsburys but choose a very busy day and a gormless boy at the till and buy a few other bits at the same time. Not sure wether you would have to have the Bill Bryson but you could always buy it as one of your two for £7 and then before you leave the store, as you go by customer service ask if you can swap it.

(Also bought in sainsburys two tops because of the 25% sale but those might go back yet, used a £1 Mitcham coupon because it is only £1.32 in Sainsburys and I have some very whiffy teenagers, and £4 of Harveys coupons from the July sainsburys magazine but I swapped the wine after Id gone through the till for what I really needed, also one of the Nestle cereal mini packs for £1.07 (which have several coupons one) and he took two 25p Nestle bar coupons for those. And the sampling lady gave me a free handbag sized deodarant as well :rotfl: )
