wedding deposit

Hi

We made a appointment and were told booked into diary. Day we went co ordinator wasnt there. We had been booked to see her on her day off!! Made another appointment. Both took time of work. She had double booked us. Tried to fob us off until my fiance put his foot down. We woulda walked out but loved venue. We booked and paid deposit of 500 for our venue as we fell in love with it when we saw it and was told only our date was left for next yr. So we phoned that night and paid over phone. Wedding co-ordinator is also manageress. She took ages sending us confirmation of payment. Eventually got it via email after pestering. She sent us wrong itemised invoice also takes ages to respond if she bothers at all! We are nervous it will be a shambles and have since read a review online about her saying she messed up someone elses wedding and double booked. We have never signed anything are we by law able to get our deposit refunded?? Please advise us

Well i think the only thing that can get you out of this is that you should contact them and tell them what your issue is..they might be able to solve it.

Mortgage-free Glee! Hung up my suit! Xmas Saver!
It might be best if one of you takes the time to go there in person and speak to her. The fact she has bookings for the days she is off, double books weddings and does not contact you would ring a few alarm bells for me.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • I have no confidence at all now. :( totally love venue but likley to cancel even if we dont get our deposit back

Why not speak to your local Trading Standards team for advice - look on your local Councils website for contact details.
  • Go on a forum like youandyourwedding and see if anyone else has experience of the venue, I don't think ours is the best at organsiing things beforehand, which is annoying and has caused us lots of issues but spoken to quite a few brides on there who all say on the day it was all perfect - that may put your mind at ease or may hekp you decide to cancel.
Did you pay deposit by credit card? You may be covered through that perhaps? I'm no expert though!
