eBuyer Deals - Acer Laptop

Im actually debating on whether to get a laptop. Something quick and easy to use downstairs instead of having to go upstairs using the desktop or using work laptop.

Got this email, looks good for the price, not too sure though. Want a 1gig ram stick though.

Shopping Tips
Don't spend five pounds to dry clean a shirt. Donate it to the charity shop instead. They'll clean it and put it on a hanger. Next morning buy it back for two pounds.

Bought girlfriend a customized version of this model, with a ClearBrite screen, 80GB HDD and built in Bluetooth and a built in OrbiCam(Webcam) in addition to the spec aforementioned.

    Very nice.

I picked up one of these just after easter at the original price and I must say it has been fantastic. I opted for the bundle with the extra half gig of memory though as 512 just isn't enough these days. The processor is plenty powerful even for games like GuildWars and Counter Strike Source. Vista is still a bit of a dud though, and with the Basic Home edition it comes with, it is certainly worth replacing with Windows XP Pro. Acer's website has all the drivers for both operating systems. If your a linux fan then Ubuntu installed very smoothly on it too.

Will Vista even run awith 512 MBytes?
I seen Vista on a new 512 Mbyte Dell and genuinely thought Christmas would come arrive before the end of the start-up.
    15 Gigabytes of OS....

Absolute no point buying a budget computer if you want to run Vista. They may as well sell you a jigsaw puzzle as well.

I bought the wife one of these for Chrimbo, needs an extra 1DB memory IMHO as the memory is also shared by the Graphics Card.

Ours before Chrimbo came with Windows XP Media Centre Edition and therefore we got a free upgrade to Vista Home Premium, so well impressed.

The laptop has been great does everything she needs and more.
    Cheers
