Bridesmaids: Same dresses, different colours.

Options
I really, really have my heart set on the bridesmaids having the same style dress (they are all quite slim so will suit most styles) but in differnet colours. The only problem is I don't know a dressmaker and unfortunately no one has one to recommend and I don't know where to start. Anyone done this or got any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation.

  • Not cheap but Ghost now to a "dye to order range" You basically pick a style of dress, the size and the colour.
Everyone has a dark side... apparently mine is called Harold?!?

most bridal shops will do the same bridesmaid dresses in a wide range of colours, so that shouldn't be an issue but they are quite pricey from bridal shops! if you were looking at more high street stuff, bhs go a lot of the same dresses in different colours, and also coast seem to aswell, just not all the colours of the rainbow!

at my best friends wedding, we all had the same dress but in 3 shades of blue - a teal blue, a navy blue and a turquoisey blue, looked lovely and people commented on what a great idea it was! can send u a pic if you want to PM me! x

That does sound lovely and I probably do need to scour the shops a little more. I have got my heart set on kind of wild flower colours. Sort of 'floral brights'. I have 4 bridesmaids - one would be in dusty pink, another in grass/pea green, another in violet and another maybe in blue or something like that. It's so annoying I can see it in my head!!

I contcted a dressmaker today and she said they would start from £180 a dress. Just think I am going to to have to give in and choose one colour :(

There are some in the BHS sale - same dresses in a few different colours.

It won't let me post a proper link for some reason but go the BHS site to the wedding section and choose 'adult bridesmaids'

It depends what sort of wedding you're having but all my girls are wearing dip hem chiffon dresses in oyster pink/grey and they look beautiful on them. I paid £10 each for them. I know that's not everyones idea of bridesmaid dress but if you're willing to go high street you may find something. These are very similar in case it's something you'd consider, and they come in lots of colours

My first thought was the Dessy dresses as they come in so many different colours

They can be twisted into different styles to suit different peoples body shapes. Can be a little expensive, and from what i've read you are better finding a Bridal shop that stocks them in UK as it can work out quite complicated and expensive ordering from the US.

When I googled to find a link for dessy I came across this website http://www.jessydessy.co.uk/trendy-princess-mini-one-shoulder-sleeveless-chiffon-bridesmaid-dresses.html

I have never heard of them, and I have no idea what they are like but maybe worth a look?

Thank you - there is more than I thought there would be! Will have a look.

These are actually lovely - I don't like the skirt going down at the back but it shows that I am not looking hard enough. These with a level skirt would be great. Thanks!!
