Silentnight 1000 pocket sprung V. Rest Assured 800 Latex pocket sprung mattress

Sainbury’s Silentnight : 5yr UK manufacturer guarantee, no turn, 22cm high, 21kg, medium, £225 for single?

or

Tesco’s Rest Assured: no guarantee, a layer of innergetic latex (no size), no turn, 26cm high, 18.5kg, £225 for single?

Which one would be most suitable for slim adult?

Thanks in anticipation.

    Firstly Silentnight own both companies.

Secondly Silentnight guarantee is more of a warranty with you paying a % towards a replacement, the longer you have it the more you pay.

    Thirdly have you tired them?

or you could have this http://www.bedzrus.co.uk/catalog/mattress/memory_foam/single/Deep_Sleep_Silk_1000_Single_Mattress_6137_563.html

    or this

I'm recommending the product here NOT the seller.

Haven't researched to who sells it the cheapest, that's your job.

  • Thank you Pinkypants for your help/info.

I have looked at both the sites – they are good prices but there are no specifications - weight, height etc. on the websites.

The reasons I was recommending the Silentnight 1000 pocket sprung mattress to my relative (she is age 60 and suffers occasional wear & tear backache) is because it is not a memory foam – (too hot and can get lumpy or sink in the middle) and also it because it is only 22cm high (most are 28-30cm high), so that if she finds the mattress is too firm for her bodyweight – (she is under 8 stone) she can buy a microfiber topper (7cm), and as the weight of the mattress is only 21kg, she will be able to rotate it regularly – even as she gets older and more frail. She has not tried these mattresses.

I would be grateful for any help. Thanks again.
  • forgot to mention - the purchase price is not a major factor in the decision - she would be willing to pay a bit more for a decent mattress that would last another 20 years.

Her current mattress, a Sealy Posturepaedic, has lasted 20 years - she has used a 2" memory foam topper during the past 2 years.

You say that you don't want memory foam, but yet she's used a topper for the last 2 years?

I can measure the heights of the mattresses as I have them here in front of me, as for the weights, pass.

Silk 1000 is around 24cm, Saturn 26cm. Not the easiest thing to measure because of the "crown" on the mattress.

What type of base is this brand new lovely mattress going onto? A 20+ year old base? Is it really in good shape after all those years?

If the base is dipped at all then the life span of the new mattress will be reduced as it'll take the shape of the base.
