Very poor service from Halifax - Ombudsman?

Feel like i'm talking to a brick wall with Halifax atm! I have been trying to get my mortgage switched to residential from Consent to Lease and I've had nothing but trouble and its been going on for months! Its been hurting us financially as we have been paying more than we should for several months:mad:

We sent a complaint and they finally started to get things sorted, they are changing the mortgage and they offered to refund us the money we are owed but have now failed to do that in the time frame they said! I am always stuck in phone queues speaking to different people at Halifax and they promise to get it done but still nothing happens:mad:

I feel like I should be owed some compensation for the phone bills and time I am wasting speaking to their useless staff members on the phone, I am getting really stressed out with it.

Anyone else experienced bad service from them?
Should I go to the financial Ombudsman?

When I had PPI problems with Nationwide about 10 years ago, I got it sorted by going down to one of their branches and kicking off.

Take all your paperwork and go to the local branch and ask to see the manager and wait until he/she sees you. Get them to sort it for you.

Don't go into a Halifax branch throwing your weight around - that will acheive nothing.

If you have already lodged a formal complaint and the lenders response is unsatisfactory you have recourse to the ombudsman.

You may want to threaten Halifax with the ombudsman first to see if they can put matters right without the additional hassle.

The service from Halifax went crap just over a year ago, just after Antonio Horta-Osorio moved in, bringing the same bad attitudes from Santander.

    Itemise
your costs for telephone calls (note PAYG to premium rate 0845 is upto 50p/min).
Your loss due to the mortgage/interest rate etc.
You won't get your time back but claim for D&I.

Bring your case to the ombudsman now if 8 weeks have passed as it could take a few weeks to a year for them to get started on it. In the mean time, you can work on Halifax (use email, not the phone).

If you think Halifax service is bad, just wait until you get to the FOS :-)
