Newbie Comper wanting advice

Ok, so I have been entering the ITV comps for a while and decided to start 'general' comping, but have noticed a few issues.

Facebook:

I don't generally use facebook but created a private accoutn solely for comping. I have no friends on here. I note many of the competitions are to like the site which is what I do, but some say to share. How can I share when I have no friends, and I notice some of the comps ask for access to my settings - but again, I have no friends so they can't send anythig to anyone else.

Does this impact competitions in any way - Would I be excluded for not sharing?

And as I don't have any details on my account or photos would I be penalised and not be given a win?

Twitter:

I considered joining this for comping but read there is no way of keeping your name private if you use your own. So, I would need to use another name - How would this affect twitter competitions if it's in another name and not mine, but it is me?

And, I don't know the ins and outs but do you just follow the page of the competition to enter it seems you have to retweet, but who would I re-tweet if I am only using it for comping?

Finally, some of the competitions I wanted to enter appear to be aimed at women/mothers - asking for last pregnancy or gender. Are men likely to win these comps? I would obviously be entering to win it for my partner.

That's all for now - I may have some more questions at some stage - :rotfl:

My twitter account is Gilla01. Your emails not on show, and mostly if you win you are told by Private Message, which is private.

Facebook - why not ask some mse-ers to be your friends. Most of my friends are 'virtual' met on mse and nowhere else. A word of advice; comps that ask to like and share, please don't just put 'liked and shared' in the comments as facebook thinks that that makes you a spammer and you then have to prove you're real, which is a pain. I mostly say something like 'Done, fingers crossed' or that kind of thing.

Gender doesn't really come into comping. Whichever ones you like to enter are fine, most draws are random.

    Good luck with your comping.

I too have a "competitions" facebook user name and all my "friends" are fellow compers. There is a thread on here somewhere where MSE'ers have shared their competition facebook names and we have all be friended each other, for the sake of competitions.

If the competition is to share, and you don't you probably wont be entered.

Twitter - not sure what you mean here really. Your twitter username can be just made up eg @sprocket. What is wrong with twitter knowing your real name.

I meant when registering an account for Twitter - I know you have a username, but you actually register under your real name with twitter? I mean, my real name/twitter account would then be available on search engines for people to find.

I was asking if I could simply make up a name when registering with twitter that obviously wasn't my own name and this would still be ok for me to claim potential prizes?
