  • Only got a form for opting out. No booklet. I was told to go to the link but apart from the % I couldn't see where it told me how much I got.

I prefer Someone to talk me through something not be told oh its on the website like my HR did. What's the point in forums otherwise?

Not that it should affect your decision to stay in the scheme this time, but you should also check out this by the way:

  • Thanks. I had heard it was changing.

My HR have been extremely unhelpful, potentially my job will be at risk of redundancy in October so I asked how this might affect my pension and again I was pointed to the internet.

I know you can find out a lot online but it doesn't quite beat talking to someone.
  • I'm lucky enough to be in my 20's so I've got time to save for my pension. Unlike a colleague of mine who is nearly 40 worked at the company for over 10 years but won't pay in as they believe the government will look after them.

They are extremely foolish and incorrect- the new SP starting in 2016 will take out most of the means tested boosting that pension credit gives people now. Your friend at work should pay more attention to this, and join the scheme while they can.

AS taking the LGPS DB pension is the BEST way to make sure govt 'takes care of him' as they will be funding his FS pension.

I remember discussing this very same question with you and looked back to find the thread in question. It was first started almost a year ago and you were given a lot of helpful information then.

No offence but you don't seem to have taken it in. There comes a time when you have to take time to read and understand. The LGPS website is full of information, none of it particularly difficult to follow. Your previous thread ( we thought ) contained lots of useful info too.

I am actually surprised just how closely my both posts matched a year apart. I might as well do various answers to most common questions asked on this forum and just copy and paste the answers in.

Nevertheless, in this case, auto-enrollment is actually a good thing for CharlieRabbit01 or anyone in various jobs that got defined benefit pension schemes.. :)

I'd forgotten that I'd had so much input to the previous thread!. Looks like I thought it was a wind up last time but concluded that the op genuinely didn't get pensions. This time I'm a little more certain. The op just doesn't want to join the pension scheme and is creating a back story that tries to make that credible. I guess the answer is - don't join the pension then, but please don't keep trying to suggest you don't understand what you are giving up.
  • My last thread pretty gave people an opportunity to attack me for not joining.

My situation between then and now has changed a lot.

My "back" story is no different, what's the point in lying you only get found out.

I apologise for forgetting I had a previous thread.

No-one attacked you. However it is such a good pension scheme that people thought you were very foolish not to have joined.

Your situation may have changed but you still seemed to be asking very basic questions about the LGPS that were all answered for you a year ago.
