I'm sorry but this is not on, every cyclist new to clipless pedals MUST have at least one comedy off at traffic lights, it's a rite of passage, and a bit of entertainment for others
yup. I did 3 rides and thought there's nothing to this "clipped in" lark until I toppled over at the lights. Half the cars were !!!!ing themselves in laughter. the other half didn't know what the hell had just happened. I just dusted myself off and set off avoiding eye contact with everyone!
I then managed 1400 miles before the next incident! I clipped my right foot in first and just as I was about to set off started to fall over to the right and sure enough my foot wasn't coming out and down I went! I was more concerned about my new £240 shoes than anything else
Now I just hold onto cars at the lights or railings, etc
I must say wearing proper stiff shoes clipped in makes a hell of a difference to the power you can put down. I tried popping down to the shops on my Carbon Tarmac in DC's and my sprint off the lights was very laughable0 -
Whereabouts are you in the country? If you're in London I really, really recommend bikeworks - brilliant people, as helpful and supportive as you could ever hope, non-profit and they will not be out to flog you the most they can. Google them - they're in a couple of locations around the place.0

I've put some videos there too about basic bike set up too.

(If anyone else could assist, I have asked that this be made sticky, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears. If you think it's worthwhile as a guide, I'll keep updating it, and I'd love it to be a sticky!)0 -
All these clipped calamities could be avoided by adding a pair of these...0
