New Dress or What

Options
Invited to upmarket wedding 3rd week July ,bought dress in Monsoon sale (lovely silk plus jacket reduced to £70 from over £200) the size is 18 which I was but I have slimmed down to nearly a 12 and thats the good bit ,but the dress is huge around the bust ,its strappy ,boned bodice and skimms the hips,what can I do ,will the dress alter to fit ,do you think or should I abandon it and buy new ,dont want to look altered,but its cream and coffee colured very weddingy.Value all your oppinions ie . to ebay it and try to get some money back it still has the tags on,cant afford to lose money.

    hate to say it but i think it would be very hard to alter that much, i had problems when i had my wedding dress as there is only so much they can take down before the dress lose's its style.

    personally i would ebay it as monsoon dress's tend to go quite well.

    Not only is it a rather drastic change of size to be successful, but you are unlikely to find a dressmaker who has a free slot at this short notice.

    I've had a number of items of clothing altered and they always look strange, always hang funny and never looked quite right ...

    that would be too big an alter to make without seriously affecting the look of the garment. Most people wouldn't alter a dress by so much.
    I'm with fizzel81 - monsoon stuff goes really well on Ebay !

    Think fairly small scale alterations OK but rather large scale ones could be a problem. However, congratulations for such a huge weight loss. Hope you didn't do it too drastically!

    Re weight loss ,started feb 2007 s/w plus recipes off here have lost 2st 21/2lb found it quite easy,also my mums lost nearly 3st + shes 84 and never felt fitter, its completely changed her life,she can now get around by herself and goes out all the time.Mind you we always ate healthy Ive only had to tweek it ,cutting down on the bread + potatoes and less olive oil.

    I agree with all the earlier comments but also could you borrow a dress/or hire one for this wedding?

    Hope you have a great time and well done on the weight loss. I am only 5`3" and have always got to watch what I eat otherwise I just look bloated. Currently 10stone 6 from 10st.10..........would like to get under 10 stone.

    what kind of diet did you follow to lose that? Ive tried all sorts and I cant shift any weight. I have about 3 stone to lose.

    thanks iceice baby I went to slimming world it is really good lots to eat large portions never hungry,also good slimming recipes on here,as most things can be adapted to fit in with the plan .feel confident I wont be piling on again as I enjoy what im eating.I like having more energy,not puffing going up stairs ,why dont you do it,you will feel great as the weight slides off ,good luck.
