Can't buy an annuity??

Received information in 2012 from a former employer that I have a small pension due to mature when I was 60 yrs old in 2012. I never did anything knowing that my official retirement date was 2017. After receiving another letter, eventually decided to learn more about what I could do and discovered about the O.M.O. and found on here the Annuity Guide which I printed off and digested. As I already had some health issues and in April had a heart attack, decided I should apply for an Enhanced annuity. Like Martin says, always best to get several quotes, which I have always done on principle. So I decided I would ask two different independent companies to get me an annuity. Completed all the paper-work etc. two weeks ago. Arrived home today to a message on my answer machine that the company holding my pension pot says I am not entitled to an annuity as the pension was payable in August 2012. I am currently waiting for the company seeking my annuity to call me back, but thought I would ask you seasons financiers your initial comments.

You need to ask the IFAs you are employing. They will have the information and it is what you are paying them to do. We could only speculate whereas they will have the facts.
