Insurance claim

My flat roof (4 years old) could obviously not take all the water that has been thrown at it over the last days - torrential and flooding everywhere here. It then developed a leak which my sons found when they came home. Anyway called the insurance company and have been told that I cannot claim on my policy as it is not "storm" damage as and I quote "there was no wind in the area" OMG cannot be true surely - she said most claims would not be covered by their policy as there was no wind.

Anyone else had this problem?

Things like this are not normally covered because its a maintenancy problem, not storm damage.

Sorry and flat roofs are notorious for leaking.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

If it is a new build are you not covered by the NHBC 10 yr cover? Yours can't be the only one effected surely?
