Register office wedding what to wear?

Hi,
Me and my partner have been together for 25 yrs and have decided to tie the knot.
We want a very simple low key wedding at registry office,
Only to include myself, partner and 2 grown up children as our witnesess,
What would be most approriate clothing to wear, as I don't want to wear a wedding dress
Any help much appreciated

Wear whatever you feel comfortable in - I've seen ladies do similar weddings in a nice dress and matching jacket (similar to the modern 'mother of the bride' outfits) which looked very nice.

What's your shape/colouring? and do you have a budget in mind?

I get married in 8 weeks and we are doing a relaxed beach theme.
Partner in leather flipflops, chinos and coller-less shirt. Girls in summer dresses and I shall be wearing this with purple shiny heeled flipflops

Of course you can! It's your day, you can wear whatever you like. It's probably most conventional for people to wear ivory or paler shades, but you don't have to be conventional!

I got married in a very small registry office ceremony (but had a blessing abroad where I wore a wedding dress so my circumstances were slightly different :)), I wore a navy Phase Eight dress. Just something pretty and simple and not at all 'bridal'. I've worn it loads since then too as it's so versatile so it was much better value than buying a white/ivory dress. :)

Congratulations and I hope you have a nice day!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

    Congratulations!
As long as you are happy, both on the day & checking the photos within the following month, you could get married in a bikini. The Registrars might splutter a bit, though.
The dress looks *stunning* - will you have any special photos? Can the photographer do a bag of silver sand & assorted beach backdrops? (Offspring bringing matching buckets & spades?)
I don't want to sound at all dismissive - this is an important & happy day, but some families want photos, so you may as well have a couple to please them & a few more to make you chuckle!
Have a wonderful day, and keep on enjoying it!

Although you may not be christian, you might feel comfortable if you dress as if you're going to a sunday service. Pretty, but conservative. I'f you've not been to the registry office, you're going to find it rather like a large room used for functions in a Public School. Dress for the room, perhaps? I hope you have a wonderful day regardless, what a touching thing to do after so long :)

    Aw that's lovely.
When I married 30 years ago (hubbs second time) I got a skirt/jacket in a sort of speckled pattern with a ruby shirt and shoes.
I never considered a white dress as we'd been living together for 2 years.
Do whatever you fancy, with respect for the occasion and have a wonderful day.
    xx
