But they do! Hence the small Tesco and Sainsbury shops cropping up all over the place. I don't use them personally but I've heard that few offers are available in them and prices higher than large, out-of-town store. But maybe that's a myth.
I know Sainsbury Local don't do the same offers as their larger stores but I thought that Tesco Express did, assuming they stock the particular item.

The Co-op sometimes have some reasonable deals, for example:

and their RFQS items are generally not bad, but other than that they're best avoided.

Or local Co Op is a joke. Of all the stock lines in there, a colossal loss leader on cheese! It is a smaller supermarket and there are more staff than customers and half of them are discounting the unsold, overpriced, inappropriate stock. It is not only the buyers who should be replaced, it is a whole tier of unqualified amateurs involved at senior levels. (Watch out for their banking division, who were spending members money looking to buy up someone else's branches, being sold off soon for its overall non-compliance).

Our local Co-op is also closing down this month. It also took over from Somerfield (there was a Somerfield and a Quik-Save at one stage in a tiny little shopping centre. Anyway, Quik-Save closed, Somerfield became Co-op, and then Aldi came to the same centre. A few weeks ago a Tesco Express opened just down the road.

I said to the Co-op staff when the Aldi opened that it would affect them adversely.

Anyway, there are some incredible deals at the Co-op at the moment, but with some products they are, unbelievably, still more expensive than the Morrisons in town, for instance. Madness.

We're really unlucky - the Co-op is our nearest supermarket at 2 miles away - otherwise it's a 35 mile round trip to the other 'big' stores.

We do a massive shop at Aldi once a month or so, but time and distance force us into the Co-op more often than not; overpriced, poor selection, use-by dates within hours not days, awful stock control......I hate it and feel ripped off when we go.

Will one of the big supermarkets not deliver.....ASDA only charge £2 on an eight hour slot?

I don't know of any distance barrage for deliveries but i may be wrong.

Minimum delivery must be £25 or over.
£50 for tesco and sainsburys i think.

Only Tesco will - I'd shop online, but DH will always want to 'physically' check/compare the Sunday joint etc. etc. :(

£50 and free delivery from Waitrose, come to that - and not as daft as it sounds. If you were very careful, took advantage of the offers and avoided the tempting luxury products, you could probably get a better deal, delivered, from Waitrose than some of the highly priced outfits like the Co-Op, Spar etc.

Our nearest Waitrose is over 100 miles away....in Cardiff. :D

    I've got no chance.
