Another deposit question

Hello everyone,

I'm seeking a little reassurance/experience.

I officially left my old rented flat on 8th July. We submitted the written/formal request for our deposit on the 18th July, as we had been on holiday as was told that as long as it was 10 working days then that was fine. I chased them up to ensure they'd received the letter, which they had, and they said they had 10 working days to contact us with any proposed deductions.

Could anyone clarify whether that sounds about right? They don't have our forwarding address (haven't asked for it) so communications will be via email.

I've been poking through the deposit info and online and I keep coming across that we must sort out any discrepancies within 10 days so I'm a little confused.

Any help much appreciated.

Deposit is protected, property in England.

If the agent or the landlord they represent have not come back to you with any proposed deductions just claim the whole lot back via the scheme right away.

Even though it's only been 7 working days? (I think it was 7!)

I'm a bit worried as a friend of mine, who also lived in the building is being charged £150 for a 'general clean' and a mark on the settee which was there when they moved in (I know everyone says that but it was!)

    Thanks BitterandTwisted :)
