60th Birthday Present for Dad

Hi, I am drawing a complete blank on what to get my dad for his birthday.
He doesn't like golf or football so that rules out almost anything that pops up in online searches lol!
I always find him the most difficult person to buy for- he has plenty of money so basically will buy anything for himself that he wants. He's also a bit of a snob so even if I find anything he could want, its unlikely I could afford the quality he would prefer.
I can't get him photos as his girlfriend really hates the idea of him having had a life before he met her, and I can't do anything too "cute" because we just aren't anywhere near as close as we used to be (due to said girlfriend- his children are evidence of his life before her).
He likes gardening so I would get something to do with that but our wedding is the day before and we've gotten him a rose bush as a thank you present for that, so thats rules out gardening.
Urgh! Any ideas - sorry for the long post but I didn't want to shoot down all the suggestions you may have so thought I'd get all that stuff out of the way.

How about one of these. He may enjoy filling it in as much as you'd enjoy reading the results!
(My Dad loved writing his and gave a copy to each of us children. A real result as a gift as I find him pretty difficult to buy for too.)They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.0 -
How about a copy of a newspaper from the day he was born, I got my dad this a few years ago (found it online, think it was about £25-£30) and he loved reading it.:j:j:jmummybear3I will declutter, I will declutter............meaning less to clear away and more time to spend with my lovely family0

You can get some amusing gifts at Presents for Men.0

I'm trying to find the same thing for my step-dad - also his 60th. He doesn't like gardening either though, or cooking. He doesn't drink, doesn't eat cheese or most meats (because he doesn't like them, not because he's vegetarian or anything) and he doesn't even read. Literally refuses to read, and only looks at anything if it has pictures (and yet he hates maps, jigsaws (too much like hard work haha) or photographs).
I have no idea what I'm going to get him to be honest. So far I've thought about possibly buying him shirts because at least they're practical. But that just feels too boring, especially considering his idea of dressing smartly is polo shirt and jeans.
I think I'll probably end up taking him out for the day to somewhere he wants to go to be honest. Hope this helps in some way!0 -
How about an annual magazine subscription. If you have Tesco vouchers you can use these.0

yep magazine subscription sounds like a good idea. get him something out of his intellectual reach, but in a topic he's interested in.
science news - has things ahead of the curve
wired - super up to date.
Magazines that draw info out of university journals are the best (not that wired is like this)0 -
Yes, was also going to suggest a magazine subscription, my Dad is incredibly difficult to buy for and have fallen back on this option a few times. Also, theatre and concert tickets are always well received.
Edit - Oops hadn't realised how old this thread was - but may help someone else searching for similar.0 -
A book with an aerial picture for every postcode in the country? or an aerial picture of his house?0
