Shoe Repairs Advice

I have a pair of purple shoes that I love and would really like to wear for a new job, however they are past their best. I've looked but I can't find anything similar to buy.
I remember my mum taking our shoes to the cobblers, but I'm embarrassed to say I've never done this myself.
I know the shoes need reheeling and this can be done, but they also are just coming away from the sole in one place and they do have a slight scuff on one toe that is through the leather. Can all of this be repaired? They are Hush Puppies.

you can ask them for a quote when you take them in....it all depends who's doing it
then you can work out if it's cheaper to get a similar pairNon me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -

That's difficult to say but.............if you can find a shoe repairer (cobbler) in a back street/out of the way location, it will be cheaper than in the town centre.;)
In my experience, if you go to an old fashioned cobbler's premises it will be messy and quite chaotic inside...........but cheap prices.
The town centre smart shoe repairer premises will be clean and tidy...........but expensive.
You choose.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
I am so lucky that where I live there is a very old fashioned cobbler just up the road.He is brilliant and shoes have to be almost in bits before he gives up on them My friend brought her boots down from dartford for repair and he made such a good job of them she went home singing his praises.I think for sole and heel he cost about £15.00 but far cheaper than a new pair of decent leather boots and especially ones that were so comfy. She has since brought down her OHs work boots for repair.I get my new walking-stick rubber bits there for only a pound and he even fits them on for me as my right arm doesn't work very well.Lloyds the chemist's want £3.00 for the same thing and I have to try to fit them myself.
Its a really lovely shop as half is a cobblers and the other half a lawn mower shop the smells are wonderful You can get garden shears sharpened and knives or scissors sharpened as well.I prefer to use them rather than a franchised chain in the local town as its a small local business and you get a nice personal service.I have even taken a bag in there for stitching when the seam gave way.Make do and mend its far better than chucking away to landfill and having to spend out again. If an average pair of shoes cost say £30-40 repairing them cost only less than half that its well worth repairing than buying new, especially if they are a pair you are comfortable in and like .As for the scuff if her can't fix it look for 'Scuffcote' in the shops or at a pinch try a felt tip in the same colour0 -
Ah, when she said toe scuff through the leather, i thoght she meant a hole in the leather.....Scuffs can be repaired no problem.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0

Definitely worth a go, I have a lovely pair of navy Clarks shoes for wearing with trousers , I bought bout 13 years ago for £40!!!! and they have been soled and heeled twice, costing about £15-18 in total over that time and will be worn this a autumn/ winter again. A good old fashioned polish makes such a difference too, no matter the colour you can get a coloured creme polish let it dry, then finish off with the old fashioned neutral wax polish, only needs done every now and again, hope that helpsEvery days a School day!0
