Mortgage advice needed regarding bank statements

To be honest the whole process has been a nightmare. Both my partner and myself have good incomes (40k each) no defaults etc and good credit scores. Experian had listed all his credit twice and had included two accounts which were complete almost two years ago. Thinking he was doing the right thing he contacted experian who put a notice of correction and this has spooked lenders. Broker eventually realised this after three declines and used Natwest who used equifax which is totally fine ! Mortgage for just over 200000 And 17% deposit AIP. The problem is we went over our overdraft limit two months ( first time in almost two years) is a mortgage still possible. If declined where do we go from here? Date of entry mid Oct

Banks will typically ask for 3-6 months bank statements so this shouldnt really be an issue. I would avoid whoever it is i bank with though. Its a bit worrying it took your broker 3 attempts before he decided to look into the reason why - personally i ask for credit reports before i do anything.

Notice of corrections do nothing, you would have been better speaking to the credit agency and asking them to rectify it.

It sounds like you have an AIP though so isnt everything ok now?

  • Hopefully will be ok. Will send last six bank statements instead of three and hopefully this will make a difference. To be honest my nerves are shot by the whole experience. My husband thought he had only spoken to experian and didn't realise the ramifications of a notice of correction

Dont send what they dont need/ask for.
They might find something that causes more questions but even if they dont they will spend longer looking at 6 months than they will at 3.

I dont mean to have a go, but what is your broker actually doing?

Typical process for me is to meet a client, look at credit reports, do a factfind, take copies of documents i requested from my client (which includes bank statements/payslips), come back make a recommendation to client and submit it and send off paperwork. The client shouldnt have to be sending off documentation.
