Sitting here on day 2 of living in my new house
A point i really didnt think I'd be at after the last few months.... Thought I'd share my experience in case it's any help (apologies for length!!!!).
Old house went on the market late March, first offer early April from FTBs fell through when they couldn't get a mortgage, then had 2 more offers within a week of re marketing. New buyers under offer to cash buyer/investor since Feb. I'd had my valuation & mortgage offer through within 1 1/2 weeks from Lloyds/C&G of offering on new house (who I stayed with & ported plus extra borrowing). They were brilliant again. My buyers did the same but with Santander. Took a month to even book survey.
They also used conveyancing - aaaaargh!!!! kept telling everyone different things, never knew if they were ready to exchange or not, what they'd done or not done & were a nightmare. If I ever sell again accepting an offer will be conditional on buyers using local firm with named solicitor. Was being told we were still completing 26/07 & yet wouldn't exchange - then suddenly on 24/07 we did!!! (after 2 weeks of being in limbo waiting for them to be ready).
Been through tough times money wise in the past, never thought I'd be able to get a mortgage at all, let alone finally end up in my "forever" home.
Now need to get heating installed, electrics checked, redecorate, etc - but it's mine
And I did it on my own!!!! I will be walking round with a silly grin for a long time... (Oh & changed job at the start of July plus a historical bankruptcy 16 yrs ago and have worked seriously hard to turn things round since then). So things may be complicated & stressful in this process but it can be done
Anyhow, time for a cuppa & unpack a few more boxes!!

Well done Squiggly, there is nothing like achieving your goal of home ownership single handed. It sounds as if it's been a bit harder for you than most, so can understand how thrilled you must be & you do deserve a big pat on the back.
As well as good luck & fortune in your new home, I wish you good luck in your new job too.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -

It has been stressful but hope it shows others who have had tough times in the past that things can change for the positive

Congratulations. :j
Lovely to hear of it all coming good. Hoping to making a similar sort of post in a few weeks (everything crossed and lots of praying!) - although I have a feeling, like you, we're going to have lots of pre-exchange limbo even though my buyers want to complete in 2 weeks.
