supermarket life long bags

We have far too many .. our storage room is clogged. Is there a way to flat-pack them and what do you do with them? took a couple to my local charity shop but that's all they want, as they already have plenty :)

I give all my spare bags to various local charity shops or the local market stalls will take them (saves them paying for them). Many supermarkets also have carrier bag recycling bins. That said I haven't bought a bag for life in years!

I buy them as holiday souvenirs :o

They are cheap and light, it makes me happy when packing my shopping that such and such bag came from France, or Germany or Canada!

Generally they live in the car.

I also like them because they don't spill out everywhere the minute you put them down

I use them as sturdy storage in the loft, shed and under the stairs. Christmas decs, winter quilts, scarves & gloves, horticultural fleece, groundsheets etc
The good thing is that they can be hung up out of the way, or stand upright if you have bottles or jars of any kind to store. I also keep a few in the car so I don't end up having to buy more!:o;)

  • Put them on freecycle; I use them for when I give plants away [as I give away hundreds more than I grow] as they do let plant pots stand up without knocking them over.

  • I use mine to grow veg in. Pierce holes in bottom they hold their shape well with compost in.

I give mine to the local church to use at the jumble sale. They are also good for grouping things together camping, as hard boxes take too much room in the boot.

I find them useful for storing shoes in the bottom of the wardrobe, I can just drag the bag out instead of tying a rope to my waist before diving into the vast dark cave underneath the skirts and pants. I can get quite scared in there!

I use the strong plastic ones (not the carrier bag type you pay 10p for) the ones you pay 30/50p for. they last quiet a few summers
