Trying again for advice on remortgage

Current mortgage is with Northern Rock who say there will be no cost on changing to a new mortgage provider. I have £39k outstanding on a property worth £79k. Never missed any mortgage payments. I have almost completed a payment plan with Money Advice and have one default remaining with £1,500 yet to be paid (started with 8 defaults and £43k). Property has been pretty much ignored as every penny has gone to repayments. Now desperately needing new electrics, heating etc so hope to remortgage to cover costs. In full-time permanent employment earning £34k. No dependents. Have a capital one card which is paid off at the end of each month. Only other debt is a catalogue which is paid by direct debit - no missed payments. Can't get a mortgage with my own bank Lloyds as debts were with BoS who are a subsidiary. Is there anyone out there who would consider me for remortgaging? All advice welcomed.

No mainstream lender will consider you if you are in a payment plan and have a default to settle.

Thanks Thrugelmir, if I were to pay the final debt in full (defaulted originally in Feb 2009) so that the account became settled I presume that the default would still impact?
