can anyone advise of where is a good place for these?
i had just rang up yesloans and was told we were accepted and then afterwards i realised i should have come here first, and im glad i came here now as i havent paid the 49.50 and have saved myself doing so, luckily
we are wanting roughly 6k for home improvements and can afford to pay no more than £120 p/m in repayments
we are quite desperate really as we want to make the best of a bad situation, the situation being we have been placed into a crap house on the worst estate in town, yet we want to feel like it is home and want be able to feel good coming back home when we have been somewhere instead of dreading it, i have explained this so that people know why we are looking into this
i would be ever so greatful for all/any advise given,
thanks in advance
rach xx

Are you intending to borrow £6K at some horrible interest rate to improve someone else's property? This seems madness, but sorry if I have misunderstood. If you have poor credit history and no security I'm afraid your options are limited. Best save up. Good luck.

I can understand why you would want to do this, and as it is council property at least you are not on a 6month shorthold tenancy. But surely you don't need £6k for decorating and tidying up the garden? Try and get a group of friends to help so you'll only have the cost of the paint. Buy them a beer and they might do the garden for you too!

Have you tried applying to the Council for a decorating allowance? You may not get £6k but you should definately get something towards the cost of decorating the property. Good Luck!!

    thank you leekenny and
hermione if only it were that simple, lol
i have no friends not round here at least all my friends are miles away like almost 100 miles, and to do the garden is going to cost a fair bit and the council wont help, we have asked the council if they can do anything with the garden as we tried to dig it over 2 summers ago and underneath the grass about 4-6 inch down its all broken bricks etc it really is a mess council said no its your problem now,
only thing is when we got the property it was in winter you arent exactly gonna go digging it over in mid winter to see what its like.
    the council are useless

Try a smart search on Moneysupermarket.com and see what it comes up with.

    Good luck!
