HELP! Will someone point me in the right direction please.

My DD1 bought her house two years ago and the particular mortgage deal is just about to come to an end. I don't know all the details but my mse head tells me she should shop around rather than just stay with the same provider.

What I want to know is how to go about this? It's easy for insurance or ISAs or savings accounts but what about mortgages. Is there anywhere that gives comparisons or is it just a case of asking around at banks and building societies.

TIA

There are various mge search sites, and of course she can go into various lenders own websites to get an idea on rates etc - but she won't know if she'll pass their criteria unless she applies.

If she wants to encompass all lenders, and to avoid applying to lenders to whom her financial and credit situ may not suit, I would engage the svcs of a whole of market mge broker, whom will not only assess her suitability, but assess the market (inc intermediary only deals) to obtain the most suitable lender and product for her requriements.

There may be a broker fee, although some will be happy to work off commission (re any associated sales) and lender proc fee.

    Hope this helps

  • It might also be worthwhile having a quick look at the Money Advice Service mortgage comparison tables.
