Nowadays it is £920 + solicitors costs.

Wow. The total they're asking for isn't even that much! Never mind the fact that when the damage is added up they owe ME nearly £700 IF the moving costs are taken off!

I've written the counter claim now, I take it I'm right to send it to the dca and they'll pass back to the client if they feel like it. Is there anything else to.do? Should I submit a money claim right now to 'get in first' so to speak?

How much do they claim you owe? has to be £750+ for bankruptcy so if below that it's a scare tactic.

You do know that its illegal to cancel a cheque if issued correctly
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

its only illegal if you deliberately write the cheque knowing at the time that you intend to cancel it.
  • Helpful reply, thanks so much. I wouldn't have had to cancel it if this cowboy hadn't irreplably damaged my goods and then refused to acknowledge it. I still haven't had so much as an apology!
