    I'd recommend any hybrid goes with a triple, TBH. More versatility. It's not like you can push on on the big ring in quite the same way as a roadie anyway, so the range comes in handy at the slight expense of top end speed. No major compromise for the majority of cyclists.

    I prefer my double for city based commuting in hilly Edinburgh
  • The triple does mean there's slightly more to go wrong, but it certainly isn't a 'wrong' choice. It's not your legs doing the riding anyway! Most people don't 'need' more than about 5 gears for the type of riding they do, but like to have the options and a 'get home' gear as a last resort is nice.
    It's only numbers.

    Sirrus are good and that seems a good price for yours. I now ride a Boardman Hybrid Team and it's the best bike I've had (Cannondale for previous 6 years).

    But agree with comments re Halfords but thats just for servicing and fixing. Learn to do your own jobs and use your LBS for anything you can't handle.
    Feb 2008, 20year lifetime tracker with "Sproggit and Sylvester"... 0.14% + base for 2 years, then 0.99% + base for life of mortgage...base was 5.5% in 2008...but not for long. Credit to my mortgage broker
