I used similar companies when I was really desperate - I would write a cheque for £100 and walk out with £84 cash. Its sooo expensive, but if you can't eat, or can't get to work because you have no petrol, it can seem the best (or even only) way to do it. Thankfully i got out of the cycle, but it was hard.

Yuck, sadly those places are springing up all over, ready to take desperate folks pennies and leave them in even more desperate situations.

This type of lender does provide a service even though it is one of my pet hates. If someone is in a situation where they would go hungry without a short term loan then it is important that they have access to some type "help".

I remember reading a thread simliar to this around 3 months ago where a woman had borrowed around a hundred quid and could never afford to pay it so would extend the period. she had done this for nearly a year and now owes thousands in interest and fee's.

This is how debt works. it should be a lesson to everyone but there is always gonna be someone who wants/needs the service

You'd think they'd at least have the decency to hide it in the small print like most of the sharks, not display it there proudly:D

I also saw a site a couple of months ago where they are basically looking for people to grass up anyone they know has debts and has done a runner in some way.

The 'informant' gets 50% of whatever the DCA then collects as their 'reward'!!
