Statute Barred Debt (Well Almost)

I moved into my new home (On electoral role and paying bills too) about 3 / 4 years ago.

I recently started getting letters about a very old debt (Circa 2008) which is due to go statute barred in about 8 months time. This debt was incurred because of a complaint I had with the bank at the time.

Anyway, so far all I've had is a few letters from Lowells saying they have purchased the debt and a very dodgy looking letter from Lloyds (Could it be a fake?) acknowledging this fact.

My question is, I'm guessing they found me on the electoral role. I don't have a phone line (Thank god!) so the letters are the only contact (Which I haven't replied to yet)

Is the electoral role enough proof to obtain a CCJ against someone or do they need more proof that someone even exists at an address?

The wierd thing is my credit score is perfect. There are no listings of debts on it at all only things I know I have like bill pay phones, broadband and my banks / cards.

I really don't want to pay this off! The original complaint has left me slightly bitter towards Lloyds so any help would be appreciated!

Are these letters basically just fishing? If so can I just ignore them?

They can find you from the electoral role, especially if not a very common name.

They can also find you through linked addresses should you search your credit report with old and new address.

Sounds like they are fishing at the moment. Problem you have, is if they decide to go for a CCJ then I guess unless you confirm your current address they will send the papers to the last known address and you will get a CCJ.

Of course, you could admit who you are, but then you might restart the SB clock if not careful or end up with a CCJ anyhow.

Do you have enough to pay it in full if it went to court?

As for the dodgy letter. I saw another thread on here that says DCAs are allowed to use logos from clients to print off things like notice of assignment letters.
