Friday 26th July - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym .
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending .
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important.
Morning all!
I'm up early for the Trades upgrading the central heating. Oh joy, at least we're not paying for it, though we will foot the bill for the electricity for their power tools. Sigh. I'm spending the day sitting on the sofa with my laptop having a sort-everything-out day. Then this evening we'll need to get our home back in order and have a giant clean up.
The list:
Call credit card company to find out why my credit card has been deactivated although it is not over the limit. It's a fault with Halifax online banking; not my card. Yay!
Trades are here upgrading the central heating. Defend house for messy Trades to minimise damage. So far so good. They're making a mess but not wrecking the place. Surveyor is an arrogant wombat, but everyone else is being great...All done now...just the cleaning to do...:(
Check online banking. Fine
Claimed £20 Leisure Voucher through credit card loyalty scheme. Then send away vouchers to exchange for theatre tokens. Done
Check balance on rent account. Good job I checked there's slightly less in there than I thought!
Call Gas/Elec Supplier on inclusive minutes number to go through first stage of complaints procedure because they are refusing to send us our bill. I need my bill to manage my budget! Used SayNoTo0870.com for a cheap number. Nice advisor in Complaints Team has promised to fix it by tomorrow.
Order a cheap sink-plug chain. OH broke ours. Done £1.25 and 1(!) Nectar Point.
Make plans for resolving dispute with Sky. Am taking advice from another MSE Forum.
Update signature. Done.
Speak to employment agency. Done.
Repair deafeningly noisy fan in laptop. Opened laptop casing, cleaned out dust, re-sealed casing. Job done.

Morning, Can I make a first post here?
I'm just starting out and trying to get involved with the excellent saving ideas on here.
My small saving today is not having a friday morning fry up at work saving £5. Instead I've brought milk and cereal from home for morning snack, and having last nights leftovers for lunch.Looking to start a DMP for over 50k of debt.0 -

Afternoon Friday Money-savers,
Busy morning -almost finished my list:
Positive money-saving activity so far:
*Wheel shallots & garlic out into the sunshine to dry ready for plaiting. Done.
*Cleaned whole house using only a dilute solution from my trusty annual bottle of Stardrops & a glug of loo cleaner. Done.
*Pick rhubarb, fresh herbs, courgette from garden ready for a bit of cooking, boil up 2 manky potatoes for same. Done.
*Bake bread rolls, rhubarb sponge & make big veggie frittata ready for family picnic tomorrow. Done.
*Put bread maker back on to make loaf for us as we've run out & not shopping till tomorrow. Done.
*Blanch & freeze the rest of the rhubarb no needed in cake. Done.
*Take pulled pork out of freezer for tonight's meal as noticed we are without a couple of ingredients required for what was on meal plan. (Hence no naughty little opportunity to talk selves into a takeaway later....) Done.
*Do meal plans for next week, basing around rubber chicken & mostly stuff we already have in or growing in garden. Done.
*Mend a pair of mr f's jeans before he gets arrested for indecency, lol! Done.
*Do a couple of surveys. Done.
Still to do:
*Write shopping list, aiming for about £55 spend max.
*Water veggie garden & greenhouse. Got to keep those food supplies coming....
*Sit in pathetic washed-out hormonal heap reading book.
