whatever next??

So last weekend lightened my hair from dark red to light auburn and tonight I was searching the Internet to help me decide whether to think about lightening my black eyebrows so they don't contrast with my hair. I typed in "lighten eye.." and the most popular search that came up was "lighten eyes with honey".

What?

So naturally I was intrigued and it appears that people are now boiling water mixed with raw honey and putting it in their eyes twice a day . Apparently it works best on brown eyes and best results are after a month.

And I thought I had seen it all...

I know! I am beyond baffled. I didn't know light eyes are now seen as desirable. Personally, I think chocolate brown eyes or deep blue and green eyes are the nicest. Who'd want wishy-washy coloured eyes?!

I really can't get my head around it, I love brown eyes. I can't understand why people think its a good idea to stick something in their eyes because a stranger said so.
  • If people want to change their eye colour, that's what coloured lenses are for! But they usually go for a darker shade. I'm off to Google this and see what's what!

A lot of people with diabetes suffer from sight loss as the sugar in the eyes' blood vessels and tear fluid leads to blindness.

Make of that what you will.
Public appearances now involve clothing. Sorry, it's part of my bail conditions.

    Wow that's mad!

Are you sure its the iris colour and not the eye ball colour? I know my eyes have gotten yellow as a result of a condition I have and also know that some smokers and city workers have yellowing in the corners of their eyes as well as people who get red or blood-shot eyes for a variety of reasons.

And then there is the skin around the eye which can become red and puffy.

I just can't/don't want to think that people would a) want to change their eye colour so badly and b) actually put things in their eyes in order to do so. This is surely more harmful then skin lightening and just as bad in terms of promoting racism and non acceptance. How horrible.

It's definitely supposed to change your eye colour!! Why??? I googled it and found several posts/blogs from people doing this. As you say Jennie it's a bit worrying that anyone would want to permanently change their eye colour, or skin colour. I've never understood that either, you would have hoped that in this day and age people would feel happy and proud of their skin colour, whatever that happens to be. I just find this really sad.
  • Honey and water mixed together makes hydrogen peroxide. We used to sit in the sun with it on our hair for hours when I was younger as it can lighten your hair a little. I assume that it can't be that strong as we never actually lightened it by a lot, but I still wouldn't want to be putting it in my eyes!
