Credit Agreements for under 18's

I am working on a case at the moment where there is DCA chasing a debt for a door step lender.

The interesting thing is the debt is for a 16 year old and the parent (who is my client) says the 16 yeard old has never had the money in the first place.

I will of course be advising that the debt may be fraudulent - but the the information I am looking for is to do with the legal issues of Minors (under 18) and credit agreements and the possibility that they are trying to enforce a debt that was illegal in the first place

I have got some information but I thought I would ask on here as well.

Thanks in advance

As far as I know anyone under 18 cannot be held responsible for any debt or credit agreement because the company shouldn't have let them open it in the first place.

    My understanding also.

However, doorstap debt collectors may not be too worried about that

Thanks guys - the only legal info I can find that as they are a minor, the debt can not be enforced unless it was for items of neccessity ie food, clothes heating etc
