Gap in work following Maternity Pay

Hi All wondering if you can help.
To cut a long story short I had a years Maternity Leave after having my first child. I had to leave my job following this Leave so have not earned in 4 months although I start a new job shortly. My husband has continued to work through this period in the Military (his posting forced the move). Am I entitled to claim any money for the period that I have not been able/searching for work?
