And if about banking, more about exchange rate fees than lending. :)

And, let's not forget, Jesus "overthrew the tables of the moneychangers and the seats of the dove-sellers". For some reason, whilst there always seem to be people who interpret the reference to 'moneychangers' as being some kind of condemnation of 'banking', they never seem to apply the same reasoning to pet shops.

If Jesus is an example to follow,
don't the priest have to go into banks and smash their computers?

Alternatively, getting crucified to raise awareness of issues might work, except suicide is illegal in this country, and the guys who hammer the nails in will be prosecuted for assisting suicide.
The BBC will definitely censor the footage.

    New slogan...

Prayday loans from Winga....for when you're getting by on a wing and a prayer!
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

I find that a lot of people have become de-skilled, so they call in the plumber for the simplest jobs.

What I want the church to do is to train some handymen, who will charge reasonable rates, and provide a free service to the disabled and OAP (reimbursed by the church or some charity).

This reduces money wasted on cowboy builders, followed by Wonga lenders.

If the idea works, it should be extended to MOT and MOT failure work, and then the motor trade in general. If there are any "Christian" values left, show it in your business dealings.

This is an interesting experiment, because Jews and Muslims can do the same, and we can have a Crusade and Jihad without bloodshed. The winner gets more business.

It will never work, of course, because Equal Opportunities means you cannot hire ONLY Christians. The same goes for Muslims of course.

What we really need is a bunch of bankers who believe in god and hellfire, like the Quakers did in Victorian times. Let's face it, nobody really does any more.

    On a point of order.

Suicide itself is pefectly legal in this country. It is however an offence to aid, abet, counsel or procure the suicide of another. See the Suicide Act 1961.

Odd. The latest figures I could find (2010) showed the COE running at a loss.

Running at a loss in 2010 does not change the fact that the Church of England is one of the richest organisations in the UK!

For a start they are one of the biggest landowners in the country owning something like 125,000 acres!

  • Off point but I find it funny how suicide could be made illegal, sure you are dead anyway!

No, they really aren't. When BBC2 did a documentary (Who Owns Britain) in 2005, the Church of England came 70th (seventieth) biggest land owner. It wouldn't make the top 100 today. Another urban myth, I'm afraid. Why don't you do some research before you post nonsense? There are individuals who own more land than the C of E.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.

And do things like spend £38 million on a Credit Union Expansion Project, and decide to raise the current interest rate cap on loans, you mean?

    https://www.gov.uk/government/news/credit-union-38-million-expansion-deal-signed

    https://www.gov.uk/government/consultations/credit-union-maximum-interest-rate-cap

Both those things would be positive steps.
