I've been exploring MSE a bit lately and it's interesting the things that you can find
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/supermarket-couponsMSE wrote:Be careful with in-store magazines
Coupons from supermarkets’ in-store magazines usually only work in that specific store. So a coupon to save £1 on Pampers from the Asda magazine usually won’t work in Tesco
The emphasis being on "usually" but the implication being give it a shot. :rotfl:
Also,MSE wrote:Warning! Don't sneak through self-scanning machines
Some self-scanning checkouts let you scan multiple coupons, even when you're not buying the relevant products. These machines operate based on trust, so by deliberately using incorrect coupons without permission you could be accused of fraud.
If you want to use coupons, be upfront and give them to the cashier. Then you're being honest, and it's the store's decision whether to allow it.
That's more than one time I've seen MSE state that as long as you hand the MOCs to the SA it is up to them whether they accept them or not, regardless of if you are buying the correct product, in the correct store, on the correct date
The other time being here:

There is an interesting article on Va1assi5 website about coupons
Apparently there are fewer instances of misredeemed internet coupons than you would expect and the cost to the promoter is less than the cost of printing coupons that aren't redeemed at all
Plus they advise promoters to take out insurance against the risk and advise on wording so that they are not taken advantage of by "consumers (who) lie in wait for unsuspecting coupon issuers so they can deliberately misredeem their coupons and skip off laughing into the sunset." I can't imagine who they might be talking aboutApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
Tosco don't send coupons to Va1assi5. tjey just bill the issuing company for the value of the coupons they have acceptedMy coupon count on the invoice varies from the face value charged?
This is usually because Tosco has already ‘directdeducted’ your trading account. Tosco send the coupon redemption data to Va1assis to include within your marketing report, hence the coupon count will be higher than the actual face value charged.
8. How does Tosco direct deducting work?
Tosco produce a statement for you detailing the monies they have deducted from your trading account or, if you do not have a trading account, an invoice is sent direct to you for the coupons scanned. These coupons are then destroyed by Tosco and the data forwarded to Va1assisfor inclusion within reports Manufacturers. The face value is of course NOT charged again.Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
what happened about Andrea's thread about couponing.
found it

My favourite quote so far comes from va1assis here
"misredemption is not currently illegal"
That'll be why MSE is promoting it simply as a form of haggling thenApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0
