Hi.
I used to make trifle with table cream on it (it came in pack and you mixed it with milk and boiled..?) but now all I can ever seem to get is blamange and it just isn't the same!!!
Any ideas how to make it or where still stocks it? My local co-op used to do the whole range of flavours but after a refit it had been removed.
TIA

there's a kind of creamy filling you can make with cornflour, used to fill choux buns with it. Will go and look.0

confectioner's custard. half pint of milk, level tablespoon of cornflour, yolks of two eggs, tblspn sugar, vanilla or other flavouring. mix milk and flour, stir while heating, bring to boil & stir for 8 minutes. add eggs, sugar and flavouring, simmer for 2 mins, leave till cold.
used to do this often, nice. it made tons, think I made it with soya milk once.0 -
You can buy Symingtons Table Creams in Morrisons, Sainsbury and Tesco.
I have always fancied trying one but havent got round to it.0 -
ooh this brings back memories, the jelly top with the creamy layer underneath.
think they did a coffee and pecan one which was absolutley gorgeous.0 -
These used to be called Jelly Creams and we used to have them as children in individual jelly moulds with Ideal Milk. I bought a couple of packets last time I visited my mother's local grocery store, they are exactly as they used to be.0
