I just wanted to post a little message thanking everyone on the forum.
I have only been using the forum for a few days and it has made me make a decision to become debt free (something I didn't think too possible!)
I got married in February and was obsessed that saving for a deposit and buying a house was the most important thing to do. But since coming on the forums it has made me see that waiting that extra 6 months and paying off my debts is a much higher priority and in the long run will benefit my credit rating and quality of life.
So heres my situation at the moment, I currently owe:
£4200;
Barclaycard £1177
Debenhams £1058
Freemans £715
HSBC Overdraft £150
My sisters visa £1100 (I know this is the worst one and I feel really guilty about it!)
Tonight I have paid £200 off my debenhams card (as that has the worst interest) and I have approximately £1900 of money that was due to go into my savings account that I am now going to use to pay stuff off.
It feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders just knowing that all those things I've been making minimum payments on for the past 5 years or so are finally gonna be gone.
So I just wanted to say a big thanks for the shove in the right direction! And if anyone can give me any other suggestions of what I should be doing or how I can make some extra pennies to pay it off faster please let me know!

put your debts into the snowball calculator on whatsthecost.com and play around with the figures...and see how much difference small additional payments can make.
The best bit is when you go and type in new payments into your personal snowball and watch the total fall. Fabby
Good luck with becoming debt free - and welcome to the forums0 -
Hi Erique and welcomeMy sisters visa £1100 (I know this is the worst one and I feel really guilty about it!)

I would personally pay off your sister's card and pay the rest off debenhams if its highest.
I would also start a spending diary as its a real eye opener and can really show you where you pennies are going - I found out I was spending £75 on lunches a month!
Good luck
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Hi Enrique, congratulations on seeing the light. I would most definitely join the £2 club. Since starting to save in February 2007 I have already banked £240 and have another £20 in the piggybank. Also keep a spending diary to see where your odd cash goes.
Good luck x0
