Work from home tax/benefits?

Hi, someone told me that if you work from home you can get benefits or claim back money used on electric etc? Is this true and does anyone know where I can find info on this? Thanks guys, recently gone self employed and trying to see what I am entitled to :)

Yes, you can, and/or you can charge your business for use of your home. Be careful, though, as it will bump your home insurance when you declare you are running a business from home. Plus, you aren't covered for public liability - if a business visitor falls in your home and breaks his neck and then claims against you, you are in serious difficulty.
