Need more help with washing plz

Options
Two problems: new ironing board cover (2.50 on ebay, yes- should have thought it was too cheap!) is staining our clothes, also the iron leaves nasty brown marks on white tops. both types of stains wouldn't wash off. I've a big birthday pressie to buy this month so not too keen to spend much so soon. Do I have to buy an "iron cleaner" and a new board cover?
Will have to take stained clothes to a special cleaner?

I'm sure that bubbling a bar of soap on to a hot iron then wipe the plate with a loth not a scourer! Or you'll fetch the coating off.
Can you not put the ironing board cover in the wash?

camNolliesMUMMY - Thank you, it's not that type of stains, they are actually quite nice on my blouses - it is a floral one & pattern is transferred to our clothes when we use the iron on it.

it isn't dye fast - I suggest you soak it in a very salty solution of water - at least a mug of salt to a bowl of water - then put it in rinse and spin cycle in washing machine. no need for fabric conditioner. See if that helps.

I buy covers from £1 shop and they are fine - also a £4 iron - Value from Tesco - job sorted.
