in Cutting tax
Hi guys im a first time poster so hopefully this is in the right place,
I have a Job offer from a uk company working in Afghanistan ( I'm a electrician) and I should be flying out in about 5 weeks,
The question I have is that where I'm not flying out for a complete tax year April to April but instead August to August what are my options to not paying any tax??
I saw a accountant today who said I could declare to leave the uk for good, make voluntary contributions of about 500 a year and then they could reclaim the tax which would be deducted
The salary is 50k (£15k of which will be taxed)
What are my options?
Are there any implications to what I have said?
Please can someone help shed some light on this?
Regards
Tommy

You might want to ask the Queen since she signed the Statutory Residence Test into law yesterday. Has your accountant heard the news?0

All 101 pages of it.
How long will it be before someone writes an "App". Every day it asks you what your current situation is. Then your phone warns you that you cannot step foot into the UK again, until you have replaced the tenants in your house - so you tell your UK associates to fly to Dubai for the meeting instead?0 -
Under the rules of the tests, you will not qualify to be exempt from Income tax, you must be outside of the UK for a full tax year and have a working contract of at least a full tax year.
I suppose the way to look at it is that its more suitable for those who have a 2 year contract, because they will definitely pass though April - April outside the country.
Good luck.0
